Head Heart Hands
Our thoughts consume us. The average adult makes 35,000 choices a day that are anchored in our head. Our thinking is influenced by a myriad of things emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Some of the things that come at us throughout the day are uncontrollable. Other influences are controllable. Controllable or not it is very important to have our thoughts anchored. That is why Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ Mark 12:30 Scriptures teach us to break down every thought and proud thing that puts itself up against the wisdom of God. “We take hold of every thought and make it obey Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:5. Learning to control our thoughts begins with loving God with ALL of them. There was a very popular bracelet that had WWJD engraved in it. What a great way to examine our thoughts; What Would Jesus Do? If we can hold our thoughts captive to the scriptures and examine them to see if they would mirror our Lord’s, we can be well on our way to making Godly choices throughout our day.
Head Heart Hands
Jesus talked about uniting three parts of our body; heart, head, hands. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30 For us to have complete balance and enjoy a good night rest our heart, head, and hands all need to be on the same page. The heart is the source of our emotions. One of the best ways to keep our emotions healthy and focused is to love God with ALL of them. This is an intentional act that requires a disciplined focus. When the events and circumstances of life stir our emotions, the best choice is to love God with them immediately. If we can anchor our heart in the Lord, we will not only survive the waves of emotions but we will be guided by His presence. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21. Our heart not only sustains us physically, it leads us emotionally. Find ways to connect your heart to the heart of God. “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
Head Heart Hands
The actions and behaviors of our hands are connected to our heart and head. Everything we do is dictated by a thought or an emotion. Our hands execute our desires, wishes, and needs. That’s why Jesus said; “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Our hands and actions represent our strength. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24 Sometimes, the only thing people will see and judge us on is our actions. We may only have one chance to represent the Lord. Loving God with ALL our heart, head, and hands will bring integrity and character into our lives. When what I think, what I say, what I feel and what I do are all lined together in the Lord, we will have and lead a life of purpose and worth. Practice, practice, practice, over and over, the uniting of your HHH. You will sleep better and your tank will be full.
