A thankful heart is the victory over selfish desires. The Garden of Eden was filled with every food and accommodation needed to satisfy Adam and Eve and thankfulness was at the core of their being. They were asked to stay away from one thing, the forbidden fruit. When temptation overcomes thankfulness, we are derailed from the direction we were created for. “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” – Oprah Winfrey
When we focus on things that we don’t have or on situations that compromise our values, our minds become darkened and we take for granted life, family, sunshine, flowers, salvation, and God. The best way to turn your life around is to be thankful for what you have and take nothing for granted. The fall of mankind began with the chase for something that was forbidden. Let’s be addicted to thankfulness rather than being addicted to something that is bad for us. The choice is ours. Am I thankful for what I have or am I driven for what I don’t have. Choose with me an attitude of gratitude and be thankful for a God that loves us.
