Bend a Knee – Not Point a Finger
We have control over two parts of our body that we can either bend or straighten out; the knee and pointer finger. The reason I am focusing on these two is because the knee and the pointer finger have the power to change many outcomes in life if we can learn to use them properly. By pointing a finger, we are not accepting responsibility and placing the blame on someone or something else. Blame shifting abusers have difficulty taking responsibility for problems and taking ownership for emotions. They go as far as necessary to attribute blame for their circumstances to anyone else but themselves. A bent knee offers a positon of acceptance and humility. Bending a knee sends a message of responsibility and restoration. We automatically lower ourselves to the other person which allows us to look up rather than look down. Pointing a finger puts us up on a step ladder looking and pointing down. Paul hit the nail on the head when he said: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves” Philippians 2:3 Practice bending the knee and the finger. The sooner we learn to bend a knee and not point a finger, the sooner we will be part of the solution and not the problem.
