An Examined Life is Worth Living
Every day we wake up we look into a mirror to see if we are presentable for the day ahead. We comb our hair, brush our teeth, and make sure the tie is straightened and our clothes and shoes match. We can spend hours “painting the barn” and forget what is on the inside. Self-evaluation and prepping for the day is critical for a positive outcome. How we look on the inside will determine how we act on the outside. There is not enough make-up in the world to cover up what is really going on. The truth will eventually work its way to the surface. Self-examination with a close up mirror allows us to reflect on the things that can help us and change us for the good. ‘Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.’ Psalm 139:23-24 This a great bible verse to memorize and to use every day with our internal mirror. An examined life is worth living.
