Rainbows Bring Hope
Rainbows are a beautiful thing to witness through the drops and mist of a storm. These pictures are from a recent trip to Hawaii as my wife and I were sailing off the coastline. There are some very interesting dynamics of a rainbow. The sun is always behind you when you face a rainbow, the rain is in the direction of the rainbow, and the circular arc of the rainbow is in the direction opposite of the sun. The sun is a symbol of warmth and life as we become dependent on it for survival. As the sun shines behind us in our storms of life, a rainbow is illuminated and becomes a source of beauty and comfort. It allows us to focus on something beyond the circumstances behind us. The rain and storms of our lives flow and pour in the direction of the rainbow giving us hope and an understanding that the things we are going through will turn into something we can’t imagine. The circular arc allows us to see the path directly opposite of the storm as it becomes a covering and entrance of a new direction. The sun illuminates, the rain guides, and the arc provides direction. When our gaze is on the rainbow we can easily forget the storm we have come from. The rainbow provides hope and direction from the journey behind us.
