Doing the Right Thing
I just read a recent story that captured my heart. It involves a 19-year-old college basketball player who has inoperable brain cancer. The NCAA gave special permission for two colleges to begin play before the normal starting date. The results of “doing the right thing” filled an arena, a state, a nation, and a world that is in desperate need of hope and purpose. The cloud of an act of kindness rains and soaks those who are fortunate enough to be under it. This is an example of cross-pollinating with
corporate America, the bureaucracy of higher educational institutions, the council of medical doctors, and the will and desire of a young, determined athlete. When we come together to do the right thing, barriers become bridges and bridges become a path to walk and live each day as it is meant to be. Doing the right thing gives us a get off the hamster wheel jail free card. This 19-year-old girl turned a death sentence into a live lesson. This live lesson is what we need to live each day, as it is our beginning not our end.
